Stage design at a church

Christmas is a special time every year in the life of the church as everyone comes together and celebrates the birth of Christ. It can be a challenge to make Christmas feel fresh and unique but that was exactly the task we were up for.

We wanted to take a break from the traditional Christmas set with real trees so we decided to do a stage set made out of paper. We created templates on a small scale and then enlarged the templates to fit the space. We designed a 6′ paper tree template and used various colors of green bulletin board paper to make them. They were reinforced with cardboard underneath and the mountains were made out of wood. The clouds were made out of coroplast and hung from the ceiling. We also created a scene in the lobby where families and friends could have their photo taken. The scene created was memorable and fun. This project was done while on staff at Fairfax Community Church.
